Terms of Use

Effective date: 7 May 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading the Golden Handshake app, accessing our website, or registering on the Business Portal, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Description of service

Golden Handshake is an Australian Seniors Card discount directory. The app helps Seniors Card holders and carers find participating businesses near them. The Business Portal allows businesses listed in State Government Seniors Card programs to manage their listings.

The service is currently available for businesses and users in Queensland. Coverage is expanding to additional Australian States over time.

3. User accounts

The consumer app does not require account registration. The Business Portal requires a registered account to access listing management features.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately via our support page if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.

4. Business Portal eligibility

The Business Portal is available only to businesses that are already listed in a participating State Government Seniors Card program. You must be an authorised representative of the business to register and manage a listing. Providing false information during verification is grounds for account suspension.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Upload content that is false, misleading, defamatory, or infringes third-party rights
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or another user’s account
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service
  • Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the service without permission

6. Content you upload

By uploading photos, descriptions, or promotional content to the Business Portal, you grant Golden Handshake a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content within the app and website. You retain ownership of your content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you upload.

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these terms or our content guidelines without notice.

7. Intellectual property

The Golden Handshake name, logo, app, and website are the intellectual property of Golden Handshake. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.

8. Third-party data

Business listing data is sourced from State Government open data portals. Queensland data is sourced from the Queensland Government Open Data Portal under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. While we strive to keep listing information current, we make no warranty as to the accuracy or completeness of data sourced from third parties.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that listing information will always be accurate or up to date. You use the service at your own risk.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Golden Handshake and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service — including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Business Portal at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these terms or is otherwise harmful to other users or the service.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. We will notify registered Business Portal users of significant changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
